Is the Vaginal Orgasm a Myth?

Let’s discuss the latest study on the female orgasm entitled Anatomy of sex: Revision of the new anatomical terms used for the clitoris and the female orgasm by sexologists by Vincenzo Puppo and Giulia Puppo.

I love science and understand that the “current” belief systems change with new evidence, but this scientific study seems flawed to me. They used MRIs of the vagina to conclude that there is only one type of orgasm, clitoral and that the G-spot doesn’t exist. Continue reading

My Daughter is a Senior

get-attachmentThis past Monday was my daughter’s first day of her senior year in high school. Through the Running Start program she is taking all college classes this year, which apply toward her high school diploma and achieving her AA in college. I wish they had something like that when I was in high school.

Where I couldn’t get older fast enough, she is not too thrilled that this is her senior year and that in a few months from now she will be turning eighteen. Truthfully, I was more oblivious to the world around me and the current state of politics where she is not. She is very concerned over what might be around the corner for our country and for the planet. Continue reading

The Power of Choice

8650924544_cf6d44a327_oMy husband and I were at a small art fair this weekend selling our books. A woman stopped at our table and mentioned—rather passionately—that she abhorred 50 Shades of Grey (she had read the first two books). She was concerned about the lack of consensual sex in 50 Shades and at least to me, in the first book it was clearly 100% Anastasia’s decision (I haven’t read the other two). Grey placed all his cards on the table in FSOG and Ana knew what she was getting into. Continue reading

While I Was Away

What I realized:
While taking time off from social media and writing, it became clear to me that I need to spend more time doing what I truly love to do and spend less hours of the day on social media constantly pushing and promoting. I’m not saying there is no value to promoting; however I do believe that more books and less promotion will generate more sales than fewer novels and more advertising. Continue reading

Is Reading Erotica Good for You?

What every girlNow let me explain before you go shaking your head like Lainie often does in Bittersweet Deceit (out August 5th). You might be shocked to find out that reading erotica, especially for women who are experiencing a drop in their libido, will help revive or amp up their sex life. There are plenty of the health benefits, which come from masturbation as well. Women going through “the change” greatly reduce their symptoms of dryness and hot flashes with regular orgasms.

Reading can help get you in the mood for some loving as I’ve been told from my readers time and again. Some even reread the scenes they like the best to get revved up. Many have mentioned reading the stories out loud to their partner. Continue reading

What Makes Us Happy?

On Saturday night my husband, Dana, and I went to a dance and when…

…HAPPY started to play I thought about what really makes me happy. You might be surprised to learn that being an author—my dream job—so far hasn’t done that. I have happy moments for sure. Fabulous reviews, meeting my readers, forging new friendships, being satisfied with my writing but overall I honestly can’t say it’s made me happy on an ongoing basis. It can be hard, frustrating, annihilating, disheartening and many other adjectives.ME_293_WantYouToBeHappy Continue reading

Is Kissing a Talent or a Skill?

Kiss-kissing-22299177-1920-1080I’ve written a blog about kissing in the past and once again I feel inspired by the topic. A guy friend recently asked me if I thought kissing was a behavior that a person could learn to do better. I don’t exactly believe the old adage that practice makes perfect but I definitely believe that the more you do something, the better you get. Continue reading

Jealousy in Life and in Fiction

jealousIn my latest WIP, Bittersweet Deceit, jealousy raises its ugly head for a few characters. As a society we seem to deem jealousy as a bad emotion, but I believe that rash generalization is misguided.

I’m not referring to the type of jealousy that creates stalkers and/or extreme controlling behavior but more your run of the mill discomfort. Continue reading

Blakely’s 5 Star Review for the Documentary Kumare

Kumare_promotional_posterKumare is an intriguing documentary by American film maker Vikram Gandhi. He studied religion in his higher education and firmly believes that no person needs a priest, pasture, rabbi, guru, etc to have a spiritual connection and that there is a high cost to blind faith.

He sets out to prove this by transforming himself into an East Indian guru and garnering a following in Arizona. Through his “teachings” he is constantly professing how he himself is an illusion. What ends up happening in the process not only surprised Vikram, but me as well. He ends up forging such deep connections with his followers that he struggles to reveal his true self when the time comes. Continue reading

Nobody’s Perfect

imagesI love my family so much and would never trade them for the world, but I HATE watching TV or movies when both my daughter and husband are in the room. They are huge talkers and love to gab through the most important and/or intense scenes. This drives me crazy. The other option we have come up with is pausing while they have their philosophical conversation, but that too kills it for me. Like when reading a book, I like to lose myself in the story and the constant starting and stopping makes it very hard for me to do so. Forget it if it’s a show they really don’t like, then the conversation floodgates are open.

In the scheme of things in creating a life together and a loving family, the above matters very little. I bring this up because NOBODY is perfect. I’m certainly not. Continue reading
